    Low-risk human papillomavirus

    Pronunciation

A type of human papilloma virus (HPV) that can cause skin warts, such as skin warts on the hands, feet, and skin around the genitals and anus. It may also cause respiratory papillomatosis, a condition in which warts form on the larynx or other areas of the respiratory tract and cause breathing problems. Low-risk human papillomavirus infections do not cause cancer, and many go away on their own without treatment. Also called low-risk HPV. (NCI Dictionary)
