    Murine Tympanic Membrane

    A thin membrane that separates the external auditory canal from the middle ear. The movement of the tympanic membrane in response to air pressure changes in the external ear facilitates the transmission of sound energy by causing vibration of the ossicular chain. (NCI Thesaurus)
