Sangivamycin Hydrochloride
The salt of a deaza-adenosine antibiotic isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces rimosus with potent cytotoxic properties. Sangivamycin inhibits protein kinase C (PKC), a signaling mediator important for cell growth and differentiation. This agent may also interfere with protein synthesis by inhibiting the formation of complexes essential to the initiation of protein synthesis and DNA synthesis. (NCI Thesaurus)
