Stage IV vaginal cancer

Definition 1
Stage IV is divided into stages IVA and IVB. In stage IVA, cancer may have spread to one or more of the following areas: (1) the lining of the bladder; (2) the lining of the rectum; and/or (3) beyond the area of the pelvis that has the bladder, uterus, ovaries, and cervix. In stage IVB, cancer has spread to parts of the body that are not near the vagina, such as the lung or bone. (NCI Dictionary)

Stage IV includes: IVA: (T4, Any N, M0) and IVB: (Any T, Any N, M1). T4: Tumor invades mucosa of the bladder or rectum and/or extends beyond the true pelvis (bullous edema is not sufficient evidence to classify tumor as T4). M0: No distant metastasis.
