Surfomer
A nonabsorbable copolymer of maleic acid and 18-carbon alpha-olefin with antilipidemic activity. Surfomer is reported to act by decreasing membrane hydrophobicity at the microvillus level, thus impairing the interaction between the intestinal membranes and intestinal cholesterol resulting in inhibition of intestinal cholesterol absorption.
